This is the minimum needed to diagnose testosterone deficiency accurately. SHBG is the protein that binds testosterone in your blood — without it, a total testosterone number alone can be misleading.
2. One-time workup — why is it low?
Ordered once, only if treatment is being considered.
These look for a treatable cause — a pituitary problem, thyroid disease, or an adrenal issue. Some men found here don't need testosterone at all. These are not repeated at follow-up visits.
3. First follow-up — 6 to 8 weeks after starting

4. Ongoing monitoring — every 3 months
